Everybody Worries

Written and illustrated by Jon Burgerman

In this bright and friendly picture book, children learn that itโ€™s okay to worry about coronavirus. Fun rhyming couplets keep the tone gentle and supportive, and you will find plenty of ideas for dealing with coronavirus in a positive way.

Everybody Worries offers your child the reassuring message that this crisis will pass, we are there for them, and we will get through this together.

A story with a craft activity

Hannah from Living Stones Educational Trust has very kindly made a video of a story and craft idea. Watch the video and try and make your own sheep. Please send them to your teachers so we can see them.

Thank you Hannah

Classrooms Together.jpg

Dear Parents / Guardians

I am very happy to say that all the classes in school now have a Google Classroom up and running with children in, tasks being completed and then sent back to the teachers. We feel very positive about it in school and hope you will share our view too.

The staff have worked extremely hard, including through the Easter holidays, to get this new way of working started and in an extremely short period of time. Obviously it is very early in our use of this platform which is proving nearly as challenging for the staff as it is for families at home. So please bear with us as we get to grips with it.

As I write now around half of the children in the school (110) are signed in to their classrooms. Obviously we want as many children to be signed in so that they can be supported as best as possible while at home.

If you havenโ€™t signed in yet then please check your emails for the login details. If you canโ€™t find them then please email the class teacher using the links on the class page of the website. Alternatively you can email enquiries@allsaintsnh-pri.manchester.sch.uk or call the school if you donโ€™t have any devices at home or no internet connection.

As we begin this new way of working I thought it would be useful to provide some guidance on how we intend to use the platform. It is important to read this section as the longer tasks will be removed from the class pages on the school website at the end of this week.

Frequency and Type of Tasks

  • We want this to be manageable and as interesting as possible. Teachers will be setting regular amounts of tasks across the curriculum in their Google Classroom. Some of these will be screen based and others will be more practical.

  • We strongly recommend using the app version at home. Search your app provider for Google Classroom. You will need your childโ€™s school email address, their password and importantly the classroom code provided by the teachers.

  • We want everyone to do their best, which may mean that some children complete different amounts of work at different times. If your child has lots of tasks that need completing then donโ€™t worry. Just tackle them one at a time as best as you can.

  • If your child has โ€˜finishedโ€™, remember there is Spelling Shed, Mathletics, Times Tables Rock Stars, Accelerated Reader and Purple Mash to provide you with more challenges.

  • The Learning Zone has over 100 links to investigate, the Hobby Zone will give your child a huge number of suggestions for something different and the Relaxation Zone is there for you when you all feel tense. BBC Bitesize Daily, Oak National Academy, White Rose Maths etc are also there for additional challenge and instruction.

Communication

  • If you have a class or Google Classroom query then please check the website and class pages first, and then if you still require more help, email your childโ€™s class teacher. The links for class emails are on each classโ€™s page on the website.

  • If it is a general enquiry then please email enquiries@allsaintsnh-pri.manchester.sch.uk. If you prefer to call the school please be aware that there are typically only 4-5 members of staff in the building at any one time and they are nearly all busy with the children, so you may have to wait for a little while for a response.

  • To ensure that school staff have time to support their own families and have time to rest, we will not be responding to emails outside of school hours. The teachers are checking their email each school day, as well as notifications they get from Google Classroom. We canโ€™t guarantee that we will always respond immediately unfortunately.

  • Teachers will still be sharing information and good work on Twitter so please follow your childโ€™s class and keep an eye on the class page.

Below is a feedback form which we would love as many parents / guardians as possible to complete so that we can help the children as best as we can at this difficult time.

In a new and rapidly changing time it is easy to 'solve' problems and move on without really knowing how these decisions impact on other people. We would like it if you could spare a few minutes to let us know how we can support the children and families better in this very difficult time.

Finally, thank you to all our families for supporting the school so much at this time and a huge well done to the children for all their hard work. We are very proud of them and canโ€™t wait to see them all back in school safe and sound.

Mr. Sharp

Jesus chose ordinary people like you and me from his time to spread the Good News. They got it right quite a lot of the time, but also messed up!

Here is a way of looking back on our day, and maybe getting rid of all the rubbish that clutters our memory boxes so that we can have a fresh start tomorrow.

At the end of your day, find a comfortable place, and remind yourself that God is there with you.

โ€ข Now look back over your day. Were you at home? Were you somewhere else too?

โ€ข What made you happy today? Did somebody say or do something that made you feel good? Someone in your family, a friend, a teacher or someone else? Did you say or do anything that made you feel good? Was there something that you really enjoyed? Whatever made you feel happy today, thank God for those things now.

โ€ข Did anything make you sad today? Maybe something that happened, or that someone said or did? Did you do something that made you feel unhappy? Maybe there is something you want to say sorry for? Whatever made you feel sad or unhappy today, remember that you are precious to God and that nothing ever changes that.

โ€ข Now think about your day tomorrow. Is there anything you would like to ask God to help you with, or anything you are worried about, or anything that you need? Talk to God about it now and ask God to be with you through your day.

May be finish with The Lord's Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,

Hallowed be thy name;

Thy kingdom come;

Thy will be done ;

On earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses,

As we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation;

But deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom,

The power and the glory,

For ever and ever.

Amen.

If there are other things you would like me to talk about, please let me know via the people at your schools who send out information to you, and they can let me know. Blessings from Father Andrew
