Key Workers Update Later Today

Guest User

A list of the "key workers" during the coronavirus crisis - whose children can still go to school - will be released later, the education secretary saidโ€ฆ

Schools in the UK will close their doors on Friday except for vulnerable pupils or children of key workers.

Education Secretary Gavin Williamson told BBC Breakfast that the Cabinet Office will release the full list of key workers later and parents not on the list would be "immediately aware" their child wouldn't be offered a place in school.

The list would include NHS workers, school staff and delivery drivers, he saidโ€ฆ

Schools supporting key workers' children will be expected to remain open during the Easter holidays, while officials are considering who is classed under this category.

Mr Williamson said the government was aiming to provide an "education setting" for 10% of the children who usually attend schools.

Staff and pupils may also be required to work at or attend schools other than their own.

Nurseries, private schools and sixth forms are also being told to follow the guidance to close.

School Closure Announcement

All Saints C of E

As you may have heard from the Prime Minister and the Secretary of State for Education, all schools are to shut for most children at the end of the day on Friday.

The children of key workers and vulnerable pupils will continue to be looked after by schools but we are waiting for clarification on who exactly these children are. We are also waiting on guidance as to which schools should provide a service and the conditions.

Families whose children receive free school meals will be supported through a voucher system but again we are waiting for details of how this will work.

As soon as we have clarity on all these issues we will let you know as soon as we can.

Thank you for your patience and support.

Home Study Packs

Guest User

As many of you will be aware, the children took home a 'home study packโ€™ yesterday. We want to be as prepared as possible for any potential school closures or in the event that families need to self-isolate. In addition to the packs, the schoolโ€™s โ€˜Learning Zoneโ€™ page on the website has been hugely expanded, and at the present time has around 50 links to websites and apps which cover the whole curriculum.

The sending of packs home does not indicate any change to the guidance on school openings or national rules on families self-isolating if a person in a household displays symptoms of coronavirus (dry, continuous cough OR fever). School is open for children and staff who are not displaying symptoms and are also not living with someone displaying symptoms.

For families with children who were absent today:

- If your household is clear of coronavirus symptoms, you may come to the front door at any time in school hours to collect your childโ€™s pack. You will need to speak through the intercom with the office stating your childโ€™s class and name. A member of staff will then leave the pack on the table outside which you can then take away with you. Please ensure that when coming to collect a pack you avoid standing in a crowd, stay 2 metres from each other and only come to the door one at a time. We recommend coming to collect the pack sooner rather than later given the speed of events at the present time.

- If anyone in your household is displaying even mild symptoms then YOU OR ANY YOUR CHILDREN MUST NOT COME TO SCHOOL. If you are not able to collect study packs before a school closure is announced we will try to post your childโ€™s pack to you.

If there are any problems then please only contact school by telephone or email.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation at this difficult time for everyone.
