World Book Day!
Yesterday we celebrated World Book Day, as we do every year. Every child in school got a new book to bring home. All of the children (and staff) were invited to dress up as this year’s theme - ‘Heroes and Villains’. Seeing all of the children in the Hall for this year’s Assembly was a fantastic occasion - one I was worried I would miss and I am so glad I didn’t was it really was a treat!
The children enjoyed learning more about books throughout the day (which I am sure you have seen on Class Dojo and Seesaw).
It brought me to thinking about heroes and villains and what messages they give us. As I have said before, I talk so much to the children about kindness and treating each other as we want to be treated. If we liken ourselves to characters, they are often heroes of the story. I can’t imagine any of us want to be a villain towards anyone! As staff, we dressed up as villains but I can assure you, it isn’t our usual attire although acting a part, was a little fun!
It also made me think about how we can play a part or character. Throughout the day, we can have so many characteristics and parts to play as one person - just thinking about a typical day you may be a parent, a colleague, a friend, a child, an employee, a customer,…. the list goes on. Each role demands different skills, emotions and qualities. At All Saints, we strive to start the journey of helping the children be able to fulfil all of these characters in their own life as they get older! We love seeing the children grow and develop and days like these make it all the better!
Thank you!

March – Islam: Ramadan begins
A holy month of fasting, prayer, and reflection for Muslims.
We will be having an assembly led by some of our Year 6 children next week to find out more about Ramadan. I can’t wait!
Look at some of the things we have been getting up to in the last 2 weeks:
Well, what a quick two weeks we have had, I can’t believe it. Yesterday and World Book Day was a real joy to be involved in (although, I had the pleasure of being involved but not organising so I would like to say a big THANK YOU to Mrs Casey and Miss Tanner for all of the work that went into a great day! I do hope that the children have all brought their books home and that they enjoy them.
Year 6 going on their trip to the Air Raid Shelter was a highlight too of last week and I was so sorry that Year 1 missed out on their trip on Monday but there will be something coming up very soon. EYFS have got the chicks too this week and have enjoyed seeing them hatch - new life! Seeing them and the flowers that are starting to come through really does show we are entering spring time.
I am very pleased to share with you news of our Spring Disco (see above!) - more info to follow before Easter but we really hope to see lots of the children there while we continue to raise money for our school and children.
I hope everyone has a great weekend - whatever you have planned and we will see you on Monday for another busy week, I’m sure!
