Mental Health
This Thursday, our children and staff came into school in Yellow to mark World Mental Health Day. This is a very important day to mark and ensure that it is always talked about in my eyes and especially to explore with our children as they are growing up. Our vision to help children be โHealthy, Happy and Confidentโ is all that encompasses mental health.
We are all different and we all have our own way of expressing our emotions and it is so important to explore ways to support our Mental Health and understand how our emotions work. City in the Community have been supporting this in our classrooms in Year 2 and Year 6 this half term which has been great to see and I know the children have got a lot from it.
We never know what has happened prior to any conversation with someone, I always try to be so mindful of this and we try to teach this to the children - kindness is always the right approach to any situation.
The other thing I think it so important to teach children is all feelings are ok. Things donโt go right all the time and life can sometimes be extremely challenging. Please do always come and speak to a member of staff if you have any worries or if there is anything we can do to help. We might not always have the answer but we will always be here to listen and we often can support in some way.
NEWS AND UPDATES
I am conscious that some children may not drink water and we are going to be exploring options in our Senior Leadership Team as to how to ensure we can help everyone stay hydrated (more information to follow). However, I must emphasise that and sugary drinks, fizzy drinks and energy drinks will not be allowed in school and will be taken off children and they will be able to access water or milk from school.
All children have access to water or milk in school at lunchtime also.
Please be aware that our gates are locked a few minutes after 8.50am, which is the latest time one of our classes starts the school day. If your child arrives at 9am, then they are already between 10-15 minutes late.

2 October (Wednesday) GANDHI JAYANTI Hindu
Gandhi Jayanti is an Indian national holiday that celebrates the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, who is referred to as the โFather of the Nationโ. He was the driving force behind the foundation of the state of India. His birthday is celebrated with services, prayers and painting and essay contests, using topics that glorify peace and non-violence, and the singing of Gandhiโs favourite devotional song entitled โRaghupati Raghav Raja Ramโ (Ram Dhun for short).
Look at what Key Stage 2 have been getting up to this last couple of weeks:
Well, what a busy couple of weeks we have had! I cannot believe that we only have a week left until we have finished our first half term of the year. We had our first Class Assembly of the year on Friday - Year 6 - and what an assembly it was! The fact that we are 6 weeks in and they have already been on a residential, carried out โCome Dine with Meโ, accessed Mental Health sessions with City and the Community and this is all on top of all of the other subjects, including daily English and Maths lessons each day. I am always so happy to see the amount of learning that goes on in our school every day.
I have also been in lots of meetings this week, some about the possibility of a new school building, some with the Local Authority and Diocese about how well our children are doing and being able to take them around to meet our wonderful children and see all they are learning.
Another busy week next week to end our half term. Look out for the information about Parentsโ Meetings after half term for your opportunity to speak to your childโs class teacher about how well they are doing.
Have a lovely weekend everyone and we will see you on Monday.
